School of Foreign Languages - Situation Description

Statement#

On the morning of April 23, 2018, a WeChat public account published a "Open Letter" from our student Yue Xin. The college promptly inquired about the situation with relevant teachers and students, and now provides the following explanation:

On the afternoon and evening of April 22, the college counselor, out of concern for the students, tried to contact Yue Xin through various means and multiple attempts but was unsuccessful. Concerned about the situation, the counselor felt worried. Around 11:30 PM, the student had not returned to the dormitory. Out of concern for the student's safety, the counselor contacted the student's mother to inquire about whether Yue Xin had returned home. The student's mother confirmed that the child had not returned home. Subsequent calls and messages went unanswered, causing further worry, prompting the mother to rush to the dormitory. By that time, the student had returned to the dormitory, and the mother communicated with her. To avoid disturbing other students' rest, the mother decided to accompany the student home.

On the morning of April 23, after the college became aware of the related information online, further communication with the parents was conducted to express concern. Teachers at the college, like parents, genuinely care for and are concerned about the students, focusing not only on their academic progress but also on their health, safety, and growth. Both teachers and parents act with good intentions and share the same attitude.

It is understood that the student has submitted a partial draft of the graduation thesis, which the supervising teacher has shown great care for, providing positive feedback and guidance, emphasizing the importance of progress in writing.

The college is a home for students' growth and development, where teachers make every effort to care for and nurture students. This care also entails responsibility, with the college, teachers, and parents all sharing the educational responsibility. At the same time, we always respect the basic rights of every student and strive to protect their legitimate interests.

We appreciate the concern shown by teachers, students, and alumni for the work of the college.
